Continuing Competence Review Process

The objective of the Continuing Competence program is to ensure public protection by promoting the provision of quality occupational therapy services in Alberta.  The program requires all occupational therapists to develop and maintain individual continuing competence plans and provides a process for peer review and assessment of those plans.

The review and assessment process was first piloted early in 2008 and the program has been in place since Autumn 2008.  The 2010 review program is currently underway. The program aims to review the practice of each occupational therapist practicing in Alberta approximately every five years.
