Certificate in Pain Management - an interprofessional graduate level program from the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, University of Alberta providing advanced education in collaborative pain management for healthcare professionals. The first course in the series, REHAB 535: the Nature of Pain will be delivered for the first time in May 2010 in a blended format. It will be available as online, distance learning in 2011. Applications will be accepted for this program starting January 15. The certificate is granted upon successful completion of three required graduate-level courses, as follows: The Nature of Pain (REHAB 535), Assessment and Management of Pain (REHAB 536), and Integrating and Implementing Pain Management Models (REHAB 537). Anxiety and Sensory Processing Disorder presentation. Children with Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) often exhibit increased anxiety, which can in turn, increase the impact of the sensory processing disorder. Diane Hinves, Registered Psychologist, and Kathy Mulka, Occupational Therapist, will present information on the relationship between SPD and Anxiety, and discuss a number of strategies with participants.
